A team of 40 troops – experts in surveillance and ground patrols – arrived just days ago to train up to 200 Tunisian soldiers to protect their border.
Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said: “We are determined to support our Tunisian allies to defend against Daesh terrorists who slaughtered innocent Britons on a beach there last year.
“Our training will help Tunisian forces strengthen their border security and stop the spread of Daesh along the coast.”
Insiders said the team from 4th Infantry Brigade will deliver, “operational planning, intelligence and surveillance and mobile patrolling” to help end illegal border crossing.
